Synecdoche, NY

I went to go watch Synecdoche, NY last night at 9:45 and I thought the movie was interesting because it was original and I had never seen a film with this type of scenario and content before. To me the film was a little too long and it had too many things going on at the same time for me to remember but other than that I thought it was great. In this film you have to pay close attention to understand the story. For example, in the beginning of the film, there was a tall white man wearing a suit standing outside of Caden’s house and at first I wondering who he was. Towards the middle of the film the same guy who was standing outside Caden’s house, reappeared to audition to play Caden himself for his play. I thought that was kind of creepy because to me I thought he was a stalker or something because he portrayed Caden’s character so well. Caden was so obsessed to make his play as realistic as possible that he basically forgot what was important to him which was his own life. What caught my attention was the house that was always on fire and it seemed normal to Caden and that girl that bought the house. Was there a purpose for the house to be on fire? I thought it was funny when I saw Caden’s therapist’s feet because she had a really bad rash or bruise. For some odd reason I started to think about how in reality when someone has a bruise or rash that bad, they traditionally would cover their feet and it made me think about what was the point of that. Overall, I thought the film was fun and interesting and if I understood the movie correctly, the moral of the film is to just live your life and don’t be afraid of change because life is short. Also, I think the movie title is called Synecdoche, NY because Caden moved to New York to pursue Broadway to and a bigger audience.
